Rwanda Development Board announced Tuesday it will launch a single online platform to provide services to investors and businesses, with more than half of those services offered digitally.
The announcement came during the CEO Forum held June 24, which gathered investors and senior leaders of private companies operating in Rwanda. The event also addressed recent changes in Rwanda’s revised tax policy and showcased updates to the RDB One Stop Center’s digital services.
Jean-Guy Afrika, director general of RDB, said the reforms have made significant progress and are expected to improve service delivery. “RDB has taken great strides to streamline services through the One Stop Center,” Afrika said. “Our goal is to simplify procedures, reduce waiting times, and promote transparency.”
Israel Bimpe, director of Irembo — the digital platform integrating services for investors and businesses — said the initiative focused first on consolidating services frequently used by sectors such as agriculture, mining, construction, manufacturing, finance, and tourism.
Investors attending the forum welcomed the new platform and suggested further improvements. Investor Denis Karera said some permits are still issued separately by the City of Kigali and the Land Center. “It would be better if these authorities worked together to ease doing business,” he said.
RDB also said building permits will be added to the One Stop Center services to address current challenges.
The reforms aim to consolidate more than 460 services, previously provided by over 24 government agencies, into one streamlined platform.
RDB expects the upgrades to create a more investor-friendly environment and accelerate business processes across Rwanda.
