Rwanda National Police Impresses at the 2025 UAE SWAT Challenge

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) is making a strong showing at the 2025 UAE Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Challenge, taking place at the Al Ruwayyah Training City in Dubai. This marks their fourth participation in the event, which kicked off on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

The competition has attracted 103 elite law enforcement teams from over 70 countries. For the next five days, teams will compete in five tough challenges, testing their physical endurance, tactical skills, and teamwork. The challenges include the Tactical Operations Challenge, the Assault Challenge, the Officer Rescue Competition, the High Tower Challenge, and the Obstacle Course.

By the end of Day Two, on Sunday, February 2, RNP’s Team 1 was in 8th place with 183 points, out of 103 teams. Team 2 was right behind in 11th place with 169 points. China is leading the competition with 200 points.

On Day One, teams competed in the Assault Event, while Day Two focused on the Tactical Event, where teams demonstrated their ability to handle high-pressure security situations.

RNP has a strong track record in this competition. In 2024, Team 1 won the Obstacle Course category, and Team 2 placed 6th. Their performance continues to highlight their skill and determination.

This year’s UAE SWAT Challenge follows Rwanda’s successful hosting of the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) SWAT Challenge in late January 2025. It was the first time the event was held in East Africa, bringing together police forces from 14 countries.

The competition is a great opportunity for police teams to show off their skills, share knowledge, and learn from each other. As the challenge continues, RNP is focused on keeping up their strong performance and representing Rwanda with pride.
