Rwanda will host the 26th General Assembly of the East Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) from January 26 to 31, 2025. The event will bring together senior police officials from 14 East African countries.
The goal is to discuss regional security issues and strengthen cooperation. This year’s theme is “Strengthening Cooperation in Preventing and Combating Terrorism, Transnational Crime, and Emerging Threats.”
The assembly will focus on solutions to cybercrime and cross-border crimes. Police officials will work together to develop strategies and improve cooperation.
EAPCCO was founded in 1998 to unite East African countries in fighting serious crimes. It includes 14 countries: Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Comoros, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Sudan, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Seychelles, and Somalia.
In addition to discussions, the assembly will feature the “EAPCCO SWAT Challenge.” From January 29 to 30, police teams from member countries will compete at the Counter-Terrorism Training Centre in Mayange, Bugesera District.

The competition will test physical strength, teamwork, and tactical skills. It will showcase the region’s preparedness to address security threats. The best teams will receive awards for their performance.
The assembly will also review past decisions and assess progress in implementing security measures. Member countries will share updates on efforts to combat cross-border crimes and enhance police operations.
This gathering will help improve regional security and cooperation. It will encourage knowledge-sharing and strengthen bonds between the participating countries in the fight against crime and terrorism.
