On February 18, 2025, Rwanda’s Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Mubarakh Muganga, welcomed 30 military officers from Nigeria to the country. The officers, from the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), were led by Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Garba Ayodeji Wahab.

Gen. Muganga expressed his appreciation for the strong relationship between Rwanda and Nigeria, particularly in the areas of peacekeeping and military training. “Our two countries share a commitment to peace and security, and this partnership has made a real impact in the fight against terrorism and in United Nations peacekeeping missions,” he said.
Col. David Mutayomba, who oversees military education in Rwanda, shared insights with the Nigerian officers about the role of the Rwandan military in the country’s development and regional security efforts.

Maj. Gen. Wahab explained that the purpose of their visit was to learn from Rwanda’s experience in military leadership. He noted that NARC offers training programs for senior officers, focusing on leadership and security issues.
During their visit, the Nigerian delegation also toured key sites in Rwanda, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the Museum of the Liberation War, and the Military Hospital in Kanombe.

This visit highlights the ongoing cooperation between Rwanda and Nigeria, and their shared goal of building stronger, more effective defense forces.
