Mobile Money Rwanda has teamed up with Mastercard to introduce a new virtual payment card, offering enhanced financial flexibility to its users.
This partnership marks the launch of the Virtual Card by MoMo, a digital payment solution that will enable MoMo customers to securely make global and cross-border e-commerce payments.
The collaboration between Mobile Money Rwanda and Mastercard aims to provide users with a seamless and secure way to shop online, while also meeting the growing demand for digital payment options. Both companies are committed to staying in line with industry regulations, ensuring compliance while continuously adapting to the evolving needs of their customers.
The Virtual Card by MoMo will allow users to make transactions at any global merchant that accepts Mastercard, providing a safe and convenient method to pay for goods and services. This launch is part of MTN Group’s broader strategy to expand its partnership with Mastercard, focusing on card issuance, acceptance, and remittance solutions across Africa.
The initiative also addresses the increasing demand for digital payment options across the continent. By offering more choices and facilitating cross-border transactions, the collaboration supports MoMo users in 13 African nations.
Additionally, I&M Bank is joining the effort to promote financial inclusion and literacy, helping to align with Rwanda’s push towards a cashless economy.
With the Virtual Card by MoMo, customers will be able to manage their online payments by entering a PIN to confirm purchases. This card is directly linked to their MTN MoMo account, making it easy to use across any mobile phone. MTN Rwanda customers can now apply for the Mastercard virtual card, opening up a world of digital payment possibilities.
