Rwanda Defence Forces Open Recruitment for Young Rwandans

The Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) has announced a nationwide recruitment drive for new recruits in various roles. The call, which targets both men and women, invites those interested to register and apply to join the military.

The official announcement, made public on the morning of March 6, 2025, revealed that the recruitment process will begin on March 8, 2025, and run until April 6, 2025. This is a chance for young individuals to serve their country and pursue a career in the RDF.

The primary focus of this recruitment is for individuals who wish to join as Officers and attend the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako. Graduates from these programs will earn a Second University Degree (A0), with the exception of those in the medical field, who will graduate with a First Degree (A1).

The RDF’s announcement details several important criteria for applicants. Those wishing to join the military must have completed secondary education and be between 18 and 21 years old to enlist as soldiers. Those applying to become officers after completing one year of study must have a Second University Degree (A0), be between the ages of 21 and 24, and be no older than 27 if they have studied Medicine or Engineering.

For those interested in joining as officers after three years, the requirements include completing secondary school in specific fields like Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM), or Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB), or Humanities. Candidates must also have passed the exams required for admission to the University of Rwanda.

The age requirement for applicants is between 18 and 22 years old, but all recruits must pass the entrance exams before they can be accepted.

In order to apply, interested candidates must bring a national identification card, academic certificates, and a certificate of good conduct from their local administrative office (Umurenge).

This recruitment drive presents an excellent opportunity for young Rwandans to take part in serving their nation, gaining valuable education, and pursuing a meaningful career in the Rwanda Defence Forces.
